Reading comprehension: gay marriage
In an attempt to discuss a variety of current affairs in the classroom, I decided to make the children work on an article which appeared in the on-line edition of Los Angeles Times newspaper, the day after the gay marriage law was passed. The children had to read the article and then do some reading comprehension activities.
The following is part of what four of them wrote. In the first question they had to summarize the article using their own words and in the second one, they had to answer some questions about the interpretation of some words and expressions form the text.
